Hey, everyone! I’m happy to have you here today on The Literary Traveler Blog with me. I want to discuss an author I discovered today named David Allen. I’m sure most readers and authors are already familiar with the author. A better word for “recommendations”. So who is David Allen for those who have never heard of him?
David Allen is the author of “Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity” (GTD) method. He is well-known for developing a time-management system, which had become popular in 2001. The book not only introduces a time-management system, but it covers a comprehensive detailed designed method to help individuals focus on lesser overactive and overwhelming feelings. The system also helps people to complete task.
So, what’s more to know about David Allen?
David’s book and system method teaches individuals to not hold tasks in their minds, but to get them done right away. The process teaches individuals to stir clear of “overloading and overwhelming” the mind.
David’s motto states “mind like water”, meaning getting things done by not holding them in our minds. This is clearly overloading our thoughts. When we don’t empty our minds from tasks and things to do, with what we already have stored in our minds, a rush of other thoughts and tasks and things swoops in like vultures going for the same prey.
David believes in “productivity” as much as his works and ideas of the system, but before his beliefs came about, by his 35th birthday, he worked 35 jobs. The jobs included consultant, landscape, and restaurant manager. Because of his book GTD, David has become a best-selling author. I’m yet to read his book. I will read it soon and write a review about his book on The Literary Traveler Book Review section of my blog. “Getting Things Done” has over 28 translated languages. David’s other books include Ready for Anything, Making It All Work, and Team: Getting Things Done with Others. I’m planning to buy and read all title listed here and give a written review of the books. While researching Top 10 Books in 2025, 2026, I ran across David’s book. Yes, This is my first time hearing about the author. Isn’t that what book recommendations are all about? Discovering new authors and books?
David is also the founder of The David Allen Company, authority of personal organizational productivity. Through his newsletters, mentoring, and seminars, David continues teaching productivity in Amsterdam where he lives.
I encourage readers and authors to check out “Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Productivity like me. Hearing about David,
I believe his book will help us organize tasks and things to get done putting our minds in a tranquil state. The words will help us to be calm-cool-and-collected, and “Getting Things Done”. Should we make an art out of learning to organize our mind after reading this book? Yes. We definitely should.
